The Ultimate One-Week Honduras Road Trip Itinerary

Day 1–2: San Pedro Sula & Copán Ruinas

Start by picking up your car at our San Pedro Sula Airport branch. From there it's a scenic drive west — generally reckoned at around 2.5–3 hours depending on stops — to Copán Ruinas, home to some of the most impressive Maya ruins in Central America. Spend a night in the colonial town, walk the ruins in the morning before the heat sets in, and consider a stop at a nearby coffee farm on your way back.

Day 3: Lago de Yojoa

Heading back toward the coast, break up the drive at Lago de Yojoa, Honduras's largest lake — good for birdwatching, a coffee tour, or just a break from the road with a view.

Day 4–5: La Ceiba

Continue east to La Ceiba, dropping your car at our airport branch or downtown branch, whichever suits your next stop. Spend a couple of days here: raft the Río Cangrejal, hike in Pico Bonito National Park, or take a boat out to Cayos Cochinos for a day of snorkeling. For a place to stay, our sister property Hotel Guacamayos La Ceiba offers budget-friendly rooms close to town.

Day 6–7: Roatán

From La Ceiba, catch the Galaxy Wave ferry across to Roatán (schedules change seasonally, so confirm sailing times before you book) and pick up a car at our Roatán Airport branch for your last couple of days — West Bay for beach time, West End for diving and dinner out.

Good to know

All of our branches offer one-way drop-off between each other, so you don't have to double back to return your car — just let us know your route when you book and we'll set it up.
